Great Documentary: PressPausePlay

The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent in an unprecedented way, with unlimited opportunities. But does democratized culture mean better art or is true talent instead drowned out? This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world's most influential creators of the digital era...So says presspauseplay's press release and it's actually true. I like the film, the questions it raises and the fact that the distribution model they use is part of the overall theme of the film. I was interviewed for the film and I was impressed with the speed in which they produced the film from the time of my interview in Paris to release date, it seemed to come out of nowhere.

Events: New Design Matters/Artist Series Film

I recently teamed up with Debbie Millman and her Design Matters show and we produced another film – the first collaboration yielded the Lawrence Weiner short. This one we filmed live, in front of an audience of a little over 100 people at the SVA studio where Debbie records the Design Matters radio show. It features Malcolm Gladwell discussing with Debbie the design of his three book box set with the designer Paul Sahre and illustrator Brian Rea, along with DeeDee Gordon and project producer Josh Liberson.

Events: HC to speak at FITC, Amsterdam, Feb. 27th

I will be speaking at FITC, Amsterdam coming up February 27th. I’ve spoken at this conference several times over the past ten years and it’s always a good one. Nothing wrong with a visit to Amsterdam either. I’ll be talking about my second book, MTIV, and how I would add to it now years later. It will be a personal talk about what I’ve learned dealing with clients, the thin line between collaboration and cowardice, and how to remain always aware of your vision. Hope to see you there.
