The MAX7000 family of high-density, high-performance CMOS devices is based on Altera’s second-generation MAX architecture. Fabricated with Description advanced EEPROM-based CMOS technology, the MAX 7000 family provides 600 to 5,000 usable gates, pin-to-pin delays as fast as 5 ns, and counter speeds of up to 178.6 MHz. The-5,-6,-7,-10P, and-12P speed grades comply with the PCI Local Bus Specification. See Table 2 for available speed grades.

The higher-density members of the MAX 7000 family-called MAX 7000E devices-include the EPM7128E, EPM7160E, EPM7192E, and EPM7256E devices.(MAX 7000E device names end with the letter E.) These deviceshave several enhanced features: additional global clocking, additional Output Enable controls, enhanced interconnect resources, fast input registers, and a programmable slew rate.
The MAX 7000 architecture supports 100% TTL emulation and high-density integration of SSI, MSI, and LSI logic functions. It easily integrates multiple programmable logic devices ranging from PALs, GALs, and22V10s to MACH, pLSI, and FPGA devices. With speed, density, andI/O resources comparable to commonly used masked gate arrays, MAX7000 devices are also ideal for gate-array prototyping.
