I was walking down a crowded street downtown Manhattan when I saw a couple locked in an embrace in the middle of the block, people moving past them in both directions and the couple oblivious to the action around them. Their embrace was serious…something had happened to them and their embrace made a deep impression on me as I too walked past them. In New York you see all sorts of private moments happening in public. It’s a city of walkers. Everyone is outside and you see arguments, kissing, crying, singing, laughing happening all the time. I took this moment and asked myself what had happened to this couple that made them block a busy sidewalk.
